An-Najah News - Former FIFA president, Joseph Blatter, has spoken that the United States can still host the 2022 World Cup, amid allegations of corruption against Qatar.

Qatar will host the World Cup in December 2022, which is the first time that world championships will not take place during the June-July period.

“Germany can host the World Cup, but the chances of that happening are slim, given that Europe hosted the last edition of the World Cup,” Blatter said.

The United States, along with Mexico and Canada, are due to host the World Cup in 2026, but Blatter moving the date to 2022.

“America can host the World Cup in 2022,” he said.

The Financial Public Prosecution in France had opened an investigation into "private corruption", "criminal conspiracy" and "the exploitation of influence and concealing the exploitation of influence" about granting Qatar the right to host the World Cup 2022.
