Jordanian Abdul Rahman Al-Masatfa secured a medal for his country, after qualifying for the semi-finals of the 67-kilogram weight category in karate competitions, today, Thursday, at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

 

Al-Masatfa qualified as the leader of his group with a full score, achieving eight points from four matches, after the withdrawal of the Italian Angelo Crechenzo.

 

The Jordanian will meet in the semi-finals later today, Turkey's Irai Samdan, who qualified at the expense of Japan's Naoto Sago.

 

Al-Masatafa, born in 1996, is a medical student. He started playing the game in 2002, and obtained a black belt in 2005 at Al-Saqr Club.

 

Al-Masatfa joined the Jordanian national karate team in 2011.
