An-Najah News - High-ranking Saudi and Iranian officials are holding direct talks, in an effort to patch up relations between the two sides. According to what was reported by the "Financial Times"
One of the officials said that the first round of Saudi-Iranian talks took place in Baghdad on April 9, and included consultations about Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, and the talks were positive.
It comes at a time when the administration of US President Joe Biden is seeking to revive the nuclear agreement that Iran signed with major world powers in 2015, and to calm regional tensions.
The official said that the Saudi delegation was led by Khalid bin Ali Al-Humaidan, head of intelligence forces, and added that another round of talks had been fixed for next week.
The newspaper stated that the process is proceeding with the facilitation of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi.
