An-Najah News -  Lake Foghea in India mysteriously turned pink overnight, which delighted nature lovers and baffled scientists.

Lake Lunar is in India's western state of Maharashtra; it was discovered 50 thousand years ago. It always has been green until it recently turned pink.

Scientists blamed the changing salt levels and increasing the presence of algae in the water, for changing the color of the lake.

Experts said that although Lunar Lake had changed color in the past, but not as this much.

"The salinity in the lake has increased with the drop in the water level significantly this year and it has become warmer, which led to the overgrowth of algae," said geologist Gajanan Kharat in a video posted by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Company on Twitter.

"These algae turn red in warmer temperatures, so the lake turns pink overnight," he explained.

Experts note that forest management officials in the state collected water samples to determine the certain cause of the transformation.

Some experts also link the acceleration of natural processes in the lake to a decrease in human activity due to the closure in India caused by the Corona virus, as the blue sky has returned in the polluted Indian cities, which has sparked speculation that the restrictions have an impact on the lake.
