An-Najah News - Israel is scheduled to withdraw at five o'clock this evening, Thursday, from the Al-Ghamr enclave south of the Dead Sea, and hand it over to Jordan.

And that is after the Israeli occupation handed over Al-Bakoura area last November.

Israel used “Al-Bakoura” and “Al-Ghamr” areas for agriculture, following the signing of the “Araba Valley” peace agreement between the two sides in 1994. The rental period of the two areas extended 25 years.

Al-Ghamr is about 4 thousand acres, and Israel occupied Al-Bakoura area in 1950 and Al-Ghamr in 1967.

Under the peace treaty named as “Wadi Araba”, the two regions returned to Jordanian sovereignty, and arrangements were made for them in two special annexes within the peace treaty.

The annexes state that Israel will benefit from the two areas for a period of 25 years from the date of the entry into force of the peace treaty, with the renewal of the usufruct automatically for similar periods, unless any party notifies the other of the termination of work with the attachments, one year before the date of renewal.
