An-Najah News - Shadi Othman, the European Union spokesman in Palestine, confirmed that the union has been cooperating with the Palestinian Authority to deal with the corona pandemic in Palestine, and since the beginning of the crisis the Union is in contact with the Palestinian government and offered to provide a package of aid.

Part of this aid was at the beginning of the year and the other part was of a total value of 71 million euros, targeting several sectors, the most important of which is paying civil servants' salaries with an estimated amount of 40 million euros, and approximately 10 million euros to support Jerusalem hospitals, in addition to aid earmarked for poor families and refugees in Palestinian camps in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and other humanitarian aid.

Othman stressed that the European Union is focusing on the East Jerusalem region, because of its marginalization by the occupation, and its great impact on the corona pandemic.

Regarding the occupation's plan to impose its sovereignty on the lands of “1967”, Othman emphasized that the position of the European Union in all that is taking place in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip is based on international law and references.
