An-Najah News - Agencies - The Director of the Public Health Authority in France, Jerome Salomon, revealed that the number of deaths from corona virus in hospitals and nursing homes has reached 17167 today, Wednesday.

Salomon stated that the country recorded 15,529 deaths on Tuesday.

He explained that the number of infections in the intensive care units decreased by 273 cases to 6,457.

This is the seventh consecutive day of declines, indicating that general isolation measures, which were extended on Monday to 11^th of May, have positive effects in containing the disease.

France has become the fourth country in the world to cross the threshold of 15,000 deaths due to the corona virus, after the United States, Italy and Spain.

On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the extension of the isolation measures until 11^th of May, acknowledging some of the failures in managing the corona crisis.
