An-Najah News - A World War II veteran from Brazil survived two battles in his life; the World War II and the coronavirus.
The 99-year-old man, Ernando Piveta, served in the army in the World War II in Africa, and was recently discharged from the hospital after recovering from COVID-19.
Piveta left the hospital wearing his army-green cap, and he said: "Winning this battle was for me bigger than winning the war,” “ In war you kill or live. Here you have to fight to live."
He was released from hospital at the same day Brazil is commemorating the 75th anniversary for its success in Battle of Montese in Italy during World War II.
"He won another battle, this time against the coronavirus," the army said in a statement.
Piveta, who turns 100 on July, and he had received the Medal of Victory from the Brazil’s president, Jair Bolsonaro, last year for his service in the armyrepresents the perfect example of howto fight to live till the last breath.
