An-Najah News - Nearly a million people have downloaded malware that can limit Android smartphone performance and drain its battery.

Security researchers at Check Point were able to discover the applications as they said that are harmful applications were designed to appear benign to trick people into downloading them from the Google Play store.

The researchers added that if you already have one of these applications on your device, it is necessary to remove it as soon as possible.

“Although Google has taken steps to secure its online store and stop malicious activity, hackers find ways to access the app store and access users’ devices,” commented the Check Point research team in the blog post. They added: “Check Point researchers have identified a new malware family that has been downloaded almost a million times around the world.”

There are 56 malicious applications, all designed to flood the smartphone with ads, with hackers earning revenue.

Almost half of it (24) aims to trick children into downloading the program by enticing them in the form of puzzle or racing games. The remaining 32 applications consist of benefits and productivity applications, in addition to cooking applications, calculators, downloads, and translators.

The program fakes clicks on banner ads within applications. By simulating a user’s click on the ad, the program will generate profits for the hackers behind the malicious applications.

These programs are shocking for the battery life of the smartphone. It requires deleting these apps to boost battery performance.

These applications are no longer available in the Google Play store, but they will still be available on your smartphone or tablet, and can affect the performance of these devices and destroy battery life.
