An-Najah News - The International Swimming Federation said in a statement on Monday that it has decided to postpone the 2021 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.

This is for one year, to be held between March 13 and 29, 2022, to avoid any conflict with the deferred Tokyo Summer Games.

The decision comes after the postponement of the Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020 until next year due to the Corona virus crisis.

The Swiss-based Swimming Federation of Lausanne has been forced to postpone the tournament because its original date, scheduled for July 16 and August 1 2021, conflicts with the new deadline for the Tokyo Olympics.

Fukuoka Mayor Suichiro Takashima said the championship program will remain the same without excluding any competitions or events from it.
