An-Najah News - The Ministry of Higher Education in Gaza decided to end the 2020-2021 academic year for students from first to eleventh grade. In light of the exceptional circumstances that the Palestinian society is going through in the Gaza Strip as a result of the recent "Israeli" attack on it.

 

It’s explained in a statement issued by the ministry that the schools will give school certificates for the end of the current academic year and distribute them to students and receive textbooks from them on Thursday, June 03, 2021.

 

He pointed out that, with the start of the next academic year, the Ministry will take the necessary measures to compensate students for what they have missed in terms of basic skills and knowledge.

They pointed to the demolition and damage of thousands of residential buildings and apartments, which led to the displacement of thousands of residents to places that could be safe shelters, or to move to residence with relatives or rent, and thousands of students lost their books and schoolbooks under the rubble.

 

They added, "The deliberate targeting of infrastructure and electricity towers, which led to a continuous blackout and the Internet, which prevents students from being able to complete their studies and review their lessons."

 

They indicated that all this led to the inability to complete face education or even distance education or hold final examinations according to the predetermined dates for the end of the school year.

 

With the start of the next academic year, the necessary measures will be taken to compensate students for the tasks they have missed.

The Ministry of Higher Education in Gaza is still in permanent session to follow up on the latest developments and the course of the educational process in light of the exceptional circumstances that the Palestinian community is going through in the Gaza Strip as a result of the brutal Zionist aggression.

 

:In light of the Ministry’s assessment of the current educational reality, the following has become clear

 

Dozens of schools were damaged as a result of the barbaric Zionist aggression and their need for .maintenance and restoration work

 

The presence of many dangers in the vicinity of many schools as a result of the shells that affected populated places, as well as damage to the streets and roads leading to these schools; What makes it difficult to access

Thousands of buildings and apartments were demolished and damaged; This led to the displacement of thousands of residents to shelters, or to move to housing with relatives or for rent, and thousands of students lost their books and school notebooks under the rubble.

 

The masses of students were affected by the barbaric Zionist aggression, and the continuous bombardment that accompanied it, which caused the death and injury of hundreds of citizens, most of them students, children and women. This led to states of panic, panic and shock, which negatively affected the psychological state of our students.

 

The deliberate targeting of infrastructure and electricity towers, which led to a continuous blackout of electricity and the Internet, which prevents students from being able to complete their studies and review their lessons.

 

In light of this evaluation, the Ministry believes that it is impossible to complete face education or even distance education or hold final examinations according to the predetermined dates for the end of the school year.

 

 Accordingly, the following has been decided:

 

 Termination of the current academic year 2020-2021 for students of grades one through eleventh.

 

 Schools extract school certificates for the end of the current academic year and distribute them to students and receive textbooks from them on Thursday, June 03, 2021.

 

The Ministry will later announce the date of the start of the next academic year 2021-2022.

 

 With the start of the next academic year, the Ministry will take the necessary measures to compensate students for the basic skills and knowledge they have missed.

 

The Ministry continues to arrange high school exams in light of the exceptional circumstances that Gaza students have experienced during the current academic year.
