An-Najah News - Nineteen Palestinian civilians were injured and dozens suffocated with tear gas during Friday weekly anti-Israeli settlement protests that took place in several governorates to reject the occupation, settlements and theft of Palestinian land.
A protester was injured and dozens of people suffocated during the a protest condemning the establishment of a new settlement outpost in the "Al-Shorfa" mountain area in the village of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah.
Hundreds of citizens participated in a protest march called by the Fatah movement, which went out from the center of the village towards the lands that were seized in the Jabal Al-Shorfa area, denouncing the occupation's intention to establish a new settlement outpost on large areas of the village's lands, and after the march the participants held Friday prayers in the Jabal Al-Shorfa area.
Ayman Alawi, head of Deir Jarir Village Council, said that the occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas canisters at the demonstrators, which resulted in the injury of a citizen with a metal bullet in the head, and he was transferred to Silwad Medical Center, in addition to a number of civilians suffocating with tar gas.
In the town of Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqilya, 18 civilians were wounded with rubber-coated metal bullets, and dozens suffocated during the weekly Kafr Qaddum protest, calling for the opening of the town’s enterenct , which has been closed for more than 17 years, for the benefit of settlement of Kedomeem.
Murad Shteiwi, the media spokesman in the Qalqilya region, said that the protest was launched yesterday, to commemorate the establishment of the Palestinian Fatah movement, with the participation of Mahmoud Al-Aloul, deputy head of the Fatah movement ,tens of Fatah leaders in the West bank and hundreds of townspeople and villages of the area.
Shteiwi pointed out that the Israeli occupation soldiers stormed the town and occupied the roofs of the citizens' homes and launched remote drones that for the first time dropped balloons filled with chemicals with a foul smell at the youths. They also targeted some homes with these balloons.
He pointed out that dozens of Israeli soldiers attacked the participants in the protests with tear gas, sound and metal bullets, which led to 18 injuries among the youths, including a 10-year-old child, in addition to dozens of severe suffocation.
In the village of Beit Dajan, east of Nablus, dozens of citizens were suffocated during anti-occupation protset in the village, which condemned the establishment of a new settlement outpost.
Hundreds of citizens participated in the protrdt called by the People's Committee for Land Defense in Beit Dajan, the factional Coordination Committee in Nablus, and the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, after performing Friday prayers in the center of the village.
Tawfiq Hajj Muhammad, representative of the Fatah movement in Beit Dajan, after the march reached the target area, to close ranks at this critical stage, to adhere to and preserve national unity.
The occupation forces fired tear gas canisters at the marchers, causing dozens of people to suffocate.
