An-Najah News - Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said that the occupation state is racing against time to impose facts on the ground with regard to settlements, in light of the significant increase in the pace of settlement during the current year.

Shtayyeh said in an interview with Palestine TV that stopping settlement expansion is a priority for the Palestinian leadership, especially that Netanyahu is racing against time to impose new facts on the ground before the end of the term of US President Trump, pointing out that imposing facts on the ground is the core of the Zionist project since its inception in Palestine.

He pointed out that confronting the settlement attack is taking place from many sides, part of it is through popular resistance, and on the other side from the legal side, as the International Criminal Court is regularly provided with all information related to settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Shtayyeh pointed out that the occupation state was not only in harmony with the deal of the century, but rather took steps further afield, in line with the Zionist project aimed at eliminating the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state on the borders of the territories occupied in 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Shtayyeh indicated that all settlement plans and projects that were proposed and developed since the occupation of the West Bank were aimed primarily at strengthening the Jewish presence and not allowing the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state.

Shtayyeh added that between 23% and 25% of the total population of the West Bank are Jewish settlers, as there are more than 220 settlements, all of which we consider illegal and illegal, pointing out that Israel is trying to raise the number of settlers in the West Bank to one million settlers

Shtayyeh indicated that the world that supports and adopts the two-state solution has not moved to save that option. For example, the European Union, which adopts the two-state option, considers settlements illegal, did not rise to its stances to boycott settlement products and only branded them.

Shtayyeh pointed out that for the first time since 1948, the number of Palestinians between the sea and the river is close to the number of Jews, and this means that the Palestinians constitute the demographic majority, and in light of Israel's rejection of the two-state solution based on the geographical solution, we are now heading towards Israel becoming a system based on racial discrimination.
