An-Najah News - The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today denounced the continuing Israeli violations of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

The latest violations were allowing Israeli settlers more time to be on the premises of the holy site, one of Islam’s top holy places in the world walled compound, which is a purely Islamic holy place, stressing that the Islamic Waqf department, which is a Jordanian government department, is the sole authority responsible for it and for overseeing who enters it.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Daifallah al-Fayez said in a statement that allowing entry of Israeli fanatics to the holy compound was a blatant disregard of the historical and legal status quo.

he said that it's against Jordan's sole right to run the affairs of the compound and organize Muslim prayers there.

He demanded Israel to respect the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al-Fayez called upon the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation to end its provocative policies in Jerusalem and the holy sites in the city.
