An-Najah News - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced today new steps towards establishing an illegal Israeli settlement in the occupied Golan Heights, after US President Donald Trump, who last year recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the occupied territory.

Netanyahu  took the opportunity during the cabinet meeting in Jerusalem to thank Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for their recently announced sanctions on the International Criminal Court.

Israel invaded and occupied the Golan from Syria during the June 1967 war and then annexed it in 1981. No country has recognized this Israeli step other than the Donald Trump administration.
