An-Najah News - Agencies - The United States is ready to recognize Israeli sovereignty in the West Bank, according to the plan laid out by President Trump, but it will also require negotiations with the Palestinians, the State Department spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

Israeli Channel 7 quoted the French news agency, as reported by the spokeswoman, adding, “As we have continuously made clear, we are ready to recognize Israeli measures to expand sovereignty, and to apply Israeli law to areas in the West Bank, which according to the President's vision of peace are part of the State of Israel.”

The move, he added, should be “within the framework of the Israeli government's agreement to negotiate with the Palestinians, according to the lines outlined in President Trump's vision.”

This statement is an illustration of what US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced, Wednesday, when he said: The final decision regarding the annexation of areas of the West Bank is up to the next Israeli government.

In late January, US President Donald Trump revealed his vision of peace in the Middle East, known as the “Deal of the Century”, in which he gave Israel the green light to annex the Jordan Valley, the strategic region that constitutes 30% of the West Bank, and the settlements built in the West Bank, Western and East Jerusalem, which was recognized by the US administration as an integral part of the united capital of Israel.

Immediately after the US President Donald Trump revealed his plan for peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed it, the Palestinian leadership quickly rejected this plan, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said: The plan “will not pass and will go to the dustbin of history, as the conspiracy projects went in this area.”
