An-Najah News - The Israeli authorities rejected a request submitted by the Jerusalem Governorate Electricity Company, to freeze the dues accumulated on the company for the benefit of the Israel Electric Corporation in light of the Corona crisis, and the failure of the participants to pay.

The Israeli authorities threatened to impose high interest on Jerusalem Electricity, and to take legal measures against it in the event that all outstanding debts incurred by it were not paid to the Israeli company on time.

Chairman and CEO of the Jerusalem Governorate Electricity Company, Eng. Hisham Al-Omari deplored the rejection of the request made by the company to postpone the debts of the participants due due to the critical conditions the region is going through as a result of this pandemic, and its effect on stopping the wheel of citizens’ lives due to the closures imposed on cities and the commitment of citizens to their homes.

We rejected this decision altogether and in detail, as it is not related to the reality in which we live in any connection, Al Omari said.

“Through our legal advisors, we have directed a strongly worded letter to the Israeli Minister of Energy, including the Israel Services Authority and related parties,” he continued.
