An-Najah News - Nablus - Fouad Abu Hamed, director of the Beit Safafa Medical Center, confirmed that “the Israeli Ministry of Health does not disclose figures for the real cases of corona virus in East Jerusalem , after months of the start of the crisis, ,” and continued: “Initially, the infections were few, but now we see acceleration in the frequency of infections.”

“We are talking about more than 30 infections in the past two days, most of which were in Silwan, and we were suffering from discrimination and not doing the necessary examinations, but there is a breakthrough in conducting the exams, as it became possible to do for those who are inside the wall, but those outside the wall must pass the Israeli barriers, in order for them to be tested, and the occupation hinders all measures,” he continued in an interview with An-Najah channel.

Hamid added: “We are collecting these numbers through doctors in hospitals, and we are talking about 70 infections, and the percentage of infections has doubled in recent days by more than 50%, and we expect more cases to appear if the tests are done.”

“There is a lot to do in Jerusalem and we are considered within the emergency committees and our communication with the occupation comes through the activists, but those outside the wall are like Kufr Aqab and the Shuafat camp in which more than 150,000 people live in, and there are thousands of citizens the Jerusalemites who live in Jerusalem but do not have the Israeli identity and therefore are not covered by the compulsory Israeli health insurance, and Palestinian hospitals in East Jerusalem must treat them,” he added.
