An-Najah News - Nablus - Today, the ninth day of April marks the 72nd anniversary of the Deir Yassin Massacre.

This crime, carried out by Zionist groups “Arjun” and “Stern” in 1948, resulted in the death of 250 to 360 Palestinians. According to the testimonies of the survivors, at that time, the terrorist attack on Deir Yassin village, west of Occupied Jerusalem, began around 3 am.But the Zionists at the time were surprised by the resistance of the residents, which was not taken into account, and 4 Jews were killed and at least 32 wounded. After that, the gangs asked for help from the “Haganah” command in Jerusalem, and reinforcements came, and they managed to recover their wounded and shoot at people without distinguishing between a man, a child, or a woman. The terrorists used the support of the “Palmach” forces in a camp near Jerusalem, and for their part, they shelled Deir Yassin with mortars to facilitate the mission of the attacking gangs. At that time, Jewish groups denied international institutions access, including the Red Cross, to the crime scene to find out what happened on the ground.

The Deir Yassin Massacre was a factor that affected Palestinian immigration to other regions of Palestine or the neighboring Arab countries, and it is perhaps the straw that broke the camel's back in igniting the Arab-Israeli war in 1948.
