An-Najah News - Nablus – The Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Sa’eb Erekat, confirmed that the Israeli occupation will not answer to the Palestinians’ requests of releasing detainees who are old-aged, suffering from illness, minors, and women, due to the spread of coronavirus.

“We have formally reached into the World Health Organization and the International Red Cross, under instructions from President Mahmoud Abbas, in order to implement the international law regarding and Palestinian prisoners of war in Israel in light of the spread of coronavirus,” Erekat said to An-Najah News.

“We asked them to release the prisoners who suffer from illness, the elderly, minors and women first, as what is stipulated in the Geneva Convention, we have also asked them to reduce the overcrowding in prisons and provide all necessary cleaning and sterilization tools to preserve their lives," he added.

“We note now that the Israeli government did not do anything and the Israeli occupation and the whole world bear the responsibility of the lives of these prisoners,” he added.
