An-Najah News - Ramadan this year coincides with the outbreak of the new pandemic of Corona, which imposed on many countries home -quarantine and lockdown.

If the fasting person follows the health rules and eating balanced meals, the fasting will have a positive effect on his body, which is represented in losing excess weight and relieving chronic infections in the body, in addition to improving insulin resistance and blood sugar, and thus improving immunity, Dietician Dr. Yara Radwan to “Sky News Arabia”.

She advises people to eat meals that contain many vegetables and fruits, in addition to unrefined starches, healthy proteins, dairy products and low-fat cheese, and an adequate amount of water not less than two liters per day.

She added, “There are not enough studies that say that fasting in Ramadan positively affects the immunity system, but in general if a person follows a healthy diet during this month, this will improve many of the functioning of his body's systems, including the immune system.”

“If the fasting person smokes during breakfast hours, drinks a lot of soft drinks and sugary juices, and consumes a large amount of fatty foods, sugars and sweets, then this behavior will prevent any positive effect of fasting hours on a person's health or immunity,” she said.
