An-Najah News - A heart attack can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Therefore, it is necessary to know if you are at risk of developing this serious health condition.

Heart attacks occur because blood flow to the heart stops suddenly and coronary heart disease (CHD) is the main cause of heart attacks, a condition in which the arteries that supply the heart (coronary arteries) are clogged with cholesterol deposits. These deposits of cholesterol in the coronary arteries are called plaques, which result in arteriosclerosis, which over time makes the arteries more solid and narrower, and it becomes difficult for the blood to flow through them.

Blood clots may form above the severed and hardened arteries, and can completely prevent blood flow, which could cause a heart attack.

It is completely healthy to have specific levels of cholesterol in the bloodstream, but when these levels are too high, it will be dangerous for a person’s health and can lead to a heart attack.

High cholesterol levels are associated with an unhealthy lifestyle, but it can also be hereditary, meaning that it can affect any person, regardless of whether they are young, skinny, eat well or exercise.

If a person has high cholesterol levels yellow fatty lumps will appear on his/her eyes.

These blocks are called "yellow plaque" (xanthelasma), which is a yellow-defined collection of subcutaneous cholesterol, usually around the upper and lower eyelids, near the inner corner of the eye, often developing symmetrically around both eyes.

People with cholesterol lumps on their eyelids are advised to seek medical attention whenever possible, to check their lipid levels and check whether they have high cholesterol levels.

Noting that some health conditions may contribute to high cholesterol levels, including kidney disease, type 2 diabetes and an inactive thyroid, along with a high-fat diet and unhealthy lifestyle such as smoking and alcohol.
