An-Najah News - Nablus - Fadela El-Shayeb, the official spokeswoman for the World Health Organization, revealed that the supposed source of the coronavirus is bats, from which it was transmitted to humans through an intermediary.

“All the available evidence indicates that the origin of this virus is an animal. It was neither produced nor tampered with in laboratories. And bats are its environmental habitat. But, it is necessary to know how the virus moved from bats to humans, because it is very clear that there is an intermediary that transmits it from bats to humans,” she said.

According to the spokesperson, WHO is working in cooperation with other countries to define the nature of the COVID-19 virus and for this it has formed several expert groups.

“We do not currently know the source of the virus. Therefore, we all have to focus on facts, not on theories. The World Health Organization is a scientific organization and we believe that the origin and source of the virus is animal,” she added.

The spokeswoman indicated that 70% of the new viruses are from animal sources, including Ebola, plague and Corona.
