An-Najah News - Nablus – A joint study by scientists from Taiwan and Australia concluded that a new strain of the coronavirus in India had developed due to a mutation, which means that changing vaccine plans is necessary.

The study found a change in the virus’ mechanisms in binding itself to human cells, and the change occurred specifically in the high amount of protein that allows corona to bind to cells, especially in the lungs.

Although the strain in question was first sampled by the National Virus Institute in India, from a patient last January, the entire genome sequence was transferred to the international community only last month.

The sample was said to belong to an Indian student who was studying in Wuhan, the birthplace of the corona virus, but the strain of the virus does not look similar to that found in the Chinese city.
