An-Najah News - Agencies - The World Health Organization (WHO) continues to provide answers to the “misconceptions” associated with the pandemic on its Internet platform, in an effort to provide the right advice to the general public, dispel rumors related to the outbreak of COVID-19 and correct misconceptions.
In terms of questions related to the existence of a vaccine or treatment for the new coronavirus, which has caused the death of about 75,000 people around the world, the WHO has responded to an inquiry regarding pneumonia vaccines.
The question was: “Do anti-pneumonia vaccines protect from corona virus?”
Responding to this question, the WHO said that these vaccines do not provide protection against the deadly virus, which has infected more than 1.3 million people around the world.
“Anti-pneumonia vaccines, such as the pneumococcal vaccine and Haemophilus influenzae type B vaccine, do not provide protection against the new coronavirus,” the organization said.
They pointed out that the corona virus is completely new and different, stressing that it needs its own vaccine.
They added that researchers are working on developing a vaccine against the COVID-19, and the World Health Organization supports these efforts.
“Although these vaccines are ineffective against the new coronavirus, it is highly recommended that you obtain a vaccination against respiratory diseases to protect your health,” they added.
