An-Najah News - According to a new study prepared by researchers at Johns Hopkins University in the United States that corona examination could tell if a person is infected after 5 days of having the virus.
The researchers explained in their study, published in the scientific journal "Annals of Internal Medicine", that the virus appears in the examination on the fifth day of infection, and the symptoms appear after 11 days have passed.
The end of the incubation period is usually marked by the beginning of the onset of early symptoms such as sore throat, cough and fever.
Johns Hopkins researchers analyzed 181 cases of coronavirus that were discovered between January 4 and February 24 outside of Hubei Province in China.
They focused on cases where a person became infected with the virus after traveling to that province, which makes it easy to analyze the incubation period of each patient.
They concluded that 97 percent of respondents began experiencing symptoms of the virus within 12 days of infection.
They said the study helps health departments know how long they need to monitor people at risk.
According to Stephen Morse, an epidemiologist at Columbia University who was not involved in the study, this research "gives you an idea of how quickly the virus can spread, if you want to limit the number of patients you will treat".
