An-Najah News - Agencies - During the corona pandemic many people are locked down away from their families and friends, and some are not having any human contact in quarantine, which causes high stress levels and no decent sleep.

In order to avoid or to stop having insomnia, a Consultant psychiatrist and professor of Psychological Medicine from the University of Sydney, Nick Glozier, said that we need to understand our body clock.

“Having a specified time for waking up and sleeping is important for our body clock, if you sleep, for example, for extra 40 minutes than your usual waking up time your sleep pattern may be disrupted,” he said.

He furtherly stated that napping for a long time during the day means that you have a disrupted sleep pattern.

He stated the biggest mistakes people do and lead them to having insomnia, which are: waking up and going to bed in different times each day, eating too much food or drinking coffee before going to bed, not getting enough hours of sleep or having extra hours of sleep, and lastly, not doing any meditation or relaxing exercises.

“It’s vital to stop using your mobile phone during the night because this will keep you awake at night,” Nick added.

He ended his statement by advising people to do some meditation or breathing exercises as they help in reducing stress levels and in getting better sleep.
