An-Najah News - Nablus - US President Donald Trump has announced that he has suspended US aid to the World Health Organization (WHO), arguing that it has failed to manage the corona pandemic crisis.

“I have ordered that aid be halted, at least temporarily, to the World Health Organization,” Trump said at a White House news conference.

“The organization has failed in its basic duties and must be held accountable,” he said, according to Reuters.

Trump accused the WHO of hiding the truth and adopting the wrong information that China released about the virus, noting that this is what led to the pandemic spreading widely in the world.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the WHO, Antonio Guterres, stressed the seriousness of Trump's decision, saying: “It is not the time to freeze funding for the WHO, or any humanitarian organization trying to stop the spread of the virus.”
