An-Najah News - Today, Palestinian Prisoners Club affirmed that the Israeli occupation continues on arresting approximately 180 children and put them in their prisons.

This is despite repeated calls and demands for their release due to the corona outbreak, which added a new threat to their fate, in addition to the risk of their continous detention in prisons that do not meet the minimum conditions for protecting their childhood.

The Israeli occupation pursues the policy of arresting Palestinian children and through which it tries to rob their childhood, and threaten their fate and future, and its violent tools used against children do not differ from the ones used against the adult detainees, and these procedures start from the moment of their arrest, until they are held in prison.

The club added in a press statement, on the occasion of the Palestinian child's day, which falls on the fifth of April of each year, that what happened yesterday in Ofer prison that the prison administration isolated two children from the prisoners, instead of releasing them, is dangerous, calling on all International authorities, headed by "UNICEF", an urgent intervention to release the child prisoners.

The highest rate of arrests among children is in the city of Jerusalem, where its children face repeated arrests, some children have not been able, for years, to complete their education due to the arrest.

This is the most important data on child prisoners in the occupation prisons: Child prisoners remain in three prisons, namely: Ofer, Majdou, and Damoun. Since 2015, more than 6,700 cases of detention of Palestinian minors were recorded, and the highest rate of child arrests was in the last three months of 2015.
