An-Najah News - The US Senators called on President Donald Trump to provide assistance to the Palestinian people in light of the crisis of the corona virus outbreak that is afflicting the world, especially after a message sent by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to countries of the world to provide them with assistance, especially in light of the pandemic.
The US senators said: The same should be applied on the Palestinian people. We address you and ask you to take every reasonable step to provide medicine, medical equipment and other necessary assistance to the West Bank and Gaza Strip to prevent a humanitarian crisis.
In light of this emergency, they demanded that the American administration to answer the following questions before 3rd of April:
- What steps is the administration taking or planning to take to help provide the necessary drugs, medical equipment, cadres and other resources to the Palestinians to combat the threat of a real crisis caused by the corona virus?
- What additional powers or actions would you need from the Congress to provide such support to the Palestinians?
- When will the administration decide to allocate $ 75 million as part of the economic support funds to support the Palestinians, according to the appropriations law for the fiscal year 2020.
- How many health facilities in the West Bank and Gaza are able to provide effective treatment and offer quarantine - if necessary - for patients and medical staff that may be transferred to it?
- Infection? If there are any facilities already in place, please list them.
- What steps - if any - will the Foreign Ministry take to coordinate with UN relief agencies, foreign governments, NGOs, and other agencies to facilitate the provision of urgent medical assistance to Palestinians to combat the corona virus, please describe these efforts?
- If there is none of the mentioned until today, then why?
- Has the administration consulted the Israeli government regarding the need to overcome the existing restrictions on the entry of necessary drugs, materials and medical equipment into the Gaza Strip? What is the status of Israeli plans to reduce restrictions on borders during this pandemic?
