An-Najah News - Nablus – Najah News – The Commission of Detainees Affairs confirms that there are no coronavirus infections among prisoners.
The Commission’s legal officers got in contact with the Israeli prisons’ administration and Arab Knesset members who contacted the Israeli Ministry of Health that confirmed there aren’t four infected Palestinian detainees as what is being broadcasted, as what the Commission reported in a news conference.
The Commission pointed out that Megiddo’s prison administration, after the suspicion of infected cases among prisoners, emptied department (4) in the prison and started using it as quarantine and a medical examination place.
The Commission calls out the human rights and humanitarian institutions, media and the press to be careful in obtaining information from its official sources, especially during these sensitive conditions.
It further stressed on the importance of international, human rights, and legal institutions involvement to put pressure on the Israeli authorities to immediately release prisoners, especially the old-aged prisoners, the ones who suffer from illnesses, females, and kids. Additionally, they shall put extreme pressure on the Israelis to make them sterilize the cells, and to provide all means of public health for the detainees.
