An-Najah News - The Central Elections Commission (CEC) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) signed a grant agreement today in the amount of 899,000 USD in support of the upcoming 2021 Palestinian elections.
The agreement was signed by CEC Chairman, Hanna Nasir, and Erling Hoem, Deputy Representative of the Norwegian Representative Office to the Palestinian Authority. This agreement takes place within the framework of a long-standing cooperation and partnership between the CEC and Norwegian government to support democracy in Palestine.
In a press release issued earlier today, the CEC stated that the project supported by this grant is expected to be implemented between March and December, 2021, and aims to support democracy in Palestine. The grant will also support the CEC in carrying out standard electoral processes, maintaining effective media coverage throughout the elections, facilitating effective and timely automation of electoral data, and supporting the initiation of electoral awareness campaigns targeting all segments of Palestinian society, particularly women and youth. Additionally, the CEC’s project shall aim to ensure the safety of poll workers and the public on polling day.
