An-Najah News - Palestinian health officials warned Sunday that hospitals in south West Bank have reached their top bed occupancy rate as more numbers of COVID-19 patients have been admitted to hospitals and intensive care units.
Afif Atawneh, Director of the Health Directorate of Southern Hebron, told Voice of Palestine radio that 50 percent of the total 73 COVID-19 patients in the district who are currently being hospitalized have been placed under intensified care, of whom six are on respirators.
He pointed out that during the past two weeks, setbacks were witnessed among the active cases, and some them were in dire need of hospitalization and were connected to respirators due to the severe symptoms they have developed.
In the meantime, Shadi Al-Lahham, Director of the Health Directorate in Bethlehem, said that the occupancy rate in ICU rooms has reached 100 percent, and that the percentage of people who need treatment in hospitals in the new wave of the coronavirus is about 40 percent of the total number of infected people.
