An-Najah News - An-Najah National University represented by Prof. Maher Natsheh, An-Najah President in cooperation with the Ministry of Information represented by Mr. Nasser Jawabra, Director of the Ministry of Information's Office in Nablus, held a press conference titled: "Achievements and Challenges". It included many journalists and media agencies.
The press conference aimed to present the recent accomplishments of the University as it has a proud history of achievement in different fields.
Prof. Natsheh stated that An-Najah University is a research-intensive University focused on improving the quality of education and research in our regions and around the globe. He said:" Our academics, students and staff pursue innovative solutions to the world’s great challenges".
He also mentioned that An-Najah University had several achievements during the academic year 2020/2021, most important was being first in Palestine and 75 in the Middle East according to SCImago Institutions Rankings and 1st Palestinian university according to QS University Rankings as well as Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.
He added that the University was also placed among top 8 universities in Asia for the Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year at the 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) Awards, also known as the ‘Oscars’ for higher education.
"These independent rankings are evidence of our commitment to excellence, purposeful research, uncommon innovation and the highest standards in educational outcomes", said Prof. Natsheh.
He added that the University won gold and silver medals in the International Research Competition for Young Scientist (IRCYS) 2020. Also, the University has recently received the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Accreditation for five new PhD programs, 10 Master’s programs and 4 Bachelor’s programs.
Moreover, Prof. Natsheh pointed out that the University's outstanding academic staff have achieved a long list of accolades and the University's researchers are recognized for their contribution to many fields of inquiry.
He announced that the research output from the University in 2020 reached 227research papers. This research output is equivalent to approximately 31.3% of the national scientific research output from Palestine.
The University proudly making an announcement that the An-Najah University has been shortlisted among top 8 universities in the Times Higher Education ‘Oscars’ of THE Awards Asia 2020 for the Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year category.
Prof. Natsheh mentioned that the University offers its students different grants including the Excellence grant, which offers 50% of tuition fees for those who achieve excellent average, scholarships to Martyrs siblings (sons and brothers), and scholarships to children of employees.
