At least 10 people died, and 6,600 people got to hospital in Japan, after they had a heat stroke, during the duration between 3rd to 9th of August.
The Japanese Fire Department, which performs the duties of the Ministry of Emergency and supervises the ambulance work, said that 180 cases are in a serious condition and require a long stay in hospital. Another 2 thousand people are in a moderate condition.
The department added that more than half of the injuries are elderly people who are over 65 years old. "For economic reasons, they were not able to operate the air conditioners in the homes or work in the garden for a long time."
The authorities warned of the heat danger, and stressed the need to carefully monitor health on hot days, and drink plenty of water.
