An-Najah News - Thousands of Israelis demonstrated in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on Saturday evening, in protest against the economic repercussions of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and the management of the crisis by Benjamin Netanyahu.

Thousands of independents gathered in the Charles Clore Park in Tel Aviv, while at least 1,500 people participated in demonstrations in front of Netanyahu's residence on Balfour Street in Jerusalem.

Protesters in the two cities closed key intersections and disrupted traffic, while protesters in Jerusalem headed toward the Prime Minister’s residence after they lit torches, amid heavy police presence.

The police used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators who cut through a water tank and took over the hoses, which led to the outbreak of confrontations between the demonstrators and the police, while two people were arrested in Jerusalem on charges of incitement.

The demonstration in Tel Aviv was divided into several processions that marched in the streets of the city towards the "Habima" square, and the police deployed dozens of members of the Cavalry Division in the streets which witnessed clashes between protesters and security forces.

On Saturday night, thousands of Israelis demonstrated in major streets and intersections in the cities of Herzliya, Latrun, Upper Galilee, and other areas to demand Netanyahu's resignation.

The demonstration in Jerusalem was organized by the "Black Banners" movement, while independent Tel Aviv demonstrators and business stakeholders affected by the Coronavirus crisis participated in the demonstrations.
