An-Najah News - The former Iraqi player, Ahmed Radi, died today, Sunday,Baghdad, after being infected with the Corona virus.
Media sources reported that "Radi died in Al-Numan Hospital in Baghdad at dawn on Sunday, after his health deteriorated in the last two days, which prevented him from traveling to Amman for treatment there where he resided."
Radi was moved on the 16th of this month to the hospital after the results confirmed that he was infected with Corona virus.
Ahmed Radi played for the Iraqi team from the end of the seventies of the last century until the nineties, and achieved a series of titles with Iraqi teams and clubs, the most prominent one was to reach the World Cup in Mexico in 1986.
He participated with the junior, youth and first team, and participated in the Gulf Cup championship.
Radi won the title with the Iraqi national team 3 times, won the title of the top scorer in the Gulf championship, participated in the Arab Cup championship and won the title of top player. He also qualified for the 1984 and 1988 Olympics and won the award for the best Asian player.
Ahmed Radi retired after a large march in which he was crowned with many titles and awards, in 2008 Ahmed Radi entered politics, became a member of the Iraqi parliament, and a member of the Youth and Sports Committee in the council.
