An-Najah News - Agencies -The demonstrations intensified in the United States of America on Monday, and came very close to the White House during the past two days, which put US President Donald Trump in a difficult situation, according to American media in Washington, DC.
According to a White House official and a law enforcement source, Trump was taken to a fortified underground cellar after the protesters gathered outside the White House on Friday night, crossing a security barrier.
The US President transferred to the dungeon cellar and stayed there for less than an hour before going upstairs, while it remains unclear whether First Lady Melania Trump and their son Baron accompanied him to the basement or not, according to the American CNN network.
The American media reported that Trump was transferred to the presidential hideout in the interest of his personal security, while Trump praised the Secret Service the next day for its handling of the protests.
Moreover, Trump tweeted, praising the Secret Service for his protection inside his fortified headquarters, stressing that he was feeling "completely safe" while the demonstrators gathered outside.
The US president noted that "dogs and weapons" were waiting inside the gates, as the protesters managed to get inside.
He announced the curfew in Washington on Sunday, starting from "23:00 until 06:00 Monday, after the emergence of new demonstrations near the White House, with the deployment of the National Guard in the city, to support the police.
Hundreds of people gathered Sunday evening in front of the White House, which was placed under heavy guard. Some demonstrators threw water bottles at the police, this came after the killing of an African American citizen, George Floyd, under the knee of a police man in Minnesota, forcing the National Guard forces to intervene and making Washington, like other cities in the country, a scene of tensions and anger.
