An-Najah News - Nablus - On Sunday,18/5/2020, Qatar began imposing the most severe penalties in the world in case of not wearing masks in public places amid a campaign to combat the spread of Corona virus, noting that the punishment will be three years in jail and a heavy financial fine.
Qatar has recorded more than 30,000 cases of the epidemic, about 1.1 percent of the of small countries total population of 2.75 million people. However, the death rate is low, with 15 death cases recorded, which experts believe is due to the large number of young ages and mandatory health checks for foreign workers.
According to the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention, only San Marino and the Vatican recorded a higher casualty rate than the population of Qatar.
The Qatar government decided "to compel all citizens and residents when leaving the house for any reason to wear masks, except in the case of the person himself while driving the vehicle," according to the Qatar News Agency reported on Thursday.
