An-Najah News - A group of doctors has warned that children who get infected with COVID-19 suffer from Kawasaki diseases, which are rare inflammatory diseases affecting children under the age of five.

The doctors explained that the infected children feel that their blood vessels are burning due to this rare disease.

They note that they believe a correlation exists between the coronavirus and rare inflammatory diseases in infants, who have exacerbated skin and inflammatory problems.

“I have treated 5 or 6 cases in the past weeks, and the children have had vasculitis,” said Dr. Sunil Sud, Cohen Center for Pediatric Therapy.

In an interview with France-Presse Agency, Sud said: “children arrive at the hospital suffering from a sudden decrease in blood flow in the blood vessels, in a state of shock, and with a decrease in the performance of the heart muscles.”

“We explain this situation to the parents of children by likening this feeling to the burning of blood vessels,” he explained.

He added that one of the children was suffering from respiratory problems, and pointed out that what is surprising is that children older than five years old also had similar symptoms.

Another doctor who dealt with similar cases, named Damelin Punit, said he had noticed that they have respiratory, digestive, and heart problems as well.

This comes after some countries recorded a high rate children with coronavirus and who suffer from these rare inflammatory diseases.
